Who Was Jesus’ Heavenly Father?
Exploring the scriptures to find the real answer

The traditional answer I’m sure that pops into your head is the Old Testament god, but there are a number of issues with this answer.
First, we have the fact that the Old Testament god often displays the worst of human characteristics, and seems proud of them. He proudly states how jealous he is, and desires all vengeance to be his. He repeatedly demands to have blood sacrifices made to him and commits genocide directly or indirectly through his chosen ones numerous times.
Christians will say that this is just one aspect of God, that the loving, forgiving, more evolved version we get from Jesus is just a different aspect of the same being. This works fine if you are one of the brainwashed flock who doesn’t use your critical thinking skills very often if at all, this answer is likely enough for you. After all, you want to believe that the book you’re holding, or browbeating others with, is the correct and complete holy book.
But early Christians weren’t as sure, there were those who believed as current Christians do that the OT god was Jesus’ father, but there were also those who believed that the Old Testament god was a lesser deity who created the flawed physical world, and there were those who believed he was actually a malevolent being akin to the Christian view of the devil. They believed that a higher being, the true God sent Jesus as an emissary to this reality to save souls, and that this reality had been crafted by a lesser flawed being attempting to emulate the reality that the true God was from.
We can see evidence that they cited in support of this theory in various non-canonical scriptures:
The Secret Book of John (Apocryphon of John)
“Yaldabaoth said, ‘I am God and there is no other God beside me.’ But by announcing this, he indicated to the angels who attended him that there exists another God; for if there were no other one, of whom would he be jealous?”
