Who Was God’s Wife?
Are there still traces of her in the Bible?

Way back in Sumerian mythology, there was a character that was designated as the wife of An or Anu one of the supreme deities in the Sumerian mythology alongside Enlil and Enki. These are the same three who are responsible for creating man and woman in the Garden of Eden according to their mythology. Her name was depicted as Ashratum (Akkadian), although over time, we also see her name depicted as Asherdu or Asertu (Hittite) as well as Athirat (Ugaritic) and eventually Asherah (Canaanite). She also had other various epithets such as “She Who Walks on the Sea,” “Elat” (the Goddess), and “Qudshu” (Holiness).
In all of these cases, she was a goddess of fertility and nature who nurtured life and was often associated with sacred trees, including the Tree of Life.
