Leave it to Donald Trump to inject additional chaos into an already toxic corner of American justice. Just a couple of days ago the U.S. Supreme Court finally put an end to Ghislaine Maxwell’s appeals, Trump wandered into the Oval Office, squinted at the cameras, and announced he might consider giving her a pardon. He wasn’t committing either way.
“I haven’t heard the name in so long. I can say this, that I’d have to take a look at it. I will speak to the DOJ,” Trump told CNN’s Kaitlan Collins. “I wouldn’t consider it or not consider it, I don’t know anything about it.”
That’s the level of clarity we’ve come to expect from the man who has absolutely no ethical compass. He casually noted that “a lot of people have asked me for pardons,” citing Sean “Diddy” Combs.
When you’re a convicted felon and sexual predator now serving as president, entertaining clemency requests, apparently, “a lot of people” ranges from billionaire entertainers/sexual predators to billionaire convicted sex traffickers.
