Contrary to what you may hear, Trump doesn’t want to be a dictator, not in the way most people think. Dictators centralize power, consolidate the state, and command from the top down.
That takes work, planning, and at least a passing interest in governance, as well as an actual functional government. Trump couldn’t care less. He’s not trying to run the government; he’s trying to dismantle it. Strip it for parts. Turn it into a skeleton crew with just enough function to protect capital and criminalize dissent. This isn’t about tyranny of the state. It’s about making sure the state doesn’t exist for anyone but the rich.
