The U.S. Is Not A Democracy

It’s Not Even a Constitutional Republic

Being “the greatest democracy on Earth,” America sure doesn’t look or function like one.

Some will correct you and claim we’re a “constitutional republic” which also sounds noble until you remember that it was written by slave-owning aristocrats who designed it to keep power out of the hands of humans they deemed “less than”.

Two and a half centuries later, the structure hasn’t changed, it’s just been corporatized, branded, and monetized. What we call “democracy” today is basically a talent show for billionaires, bankers, and defense contractors to decide who gets to smile on TV while they run the empire.

This isn’t a democracy. It’s not even a functioning republic.

Washington is a revolving door of oligarchs, lobbyists, and career politicians whose only real job is to maintain the illusion that the people still have a say knowing full well that they don’t.

In reality, the U.S. is closer to a corporate-controlled oligarchy, a government of the rich, by the rich, and for the rich, with a popularity contest every couple of years to divide us and make us think our team winning will matter in the scheme of things.

Do you think that I’m being hyperbolic?
