The American dream is dead.

A Bleak Outlook

I’m an “elder millennial” or I guess that’s what we’re being called, we were raised on the lie that if you put in some hard work in school, then go to college and get a degree that’ll open up all kinds of opportunities, and you’ll be able to have a decent life.

They left off the fact of a shrinking job market, ballooning housing market prices, the crushing unique debt of student loans for those of us that didn’t have trust funds, and stagnated wages that mean that you essentially make less each year with inflation calculated in, since most corporations see raise freezes as a normal practice to help the budget… It’s all an uphill battle, with most people working multiple jobs or side hustles to make it by. In the end they’ll just work you till you’re all used up.

I used to work in healthcare, and I would see patients when I worked geriatrics who came into assisted living or nursing homes with large savings, and each month that place would bill them thousands of dollars for one bed in a shared room. Each of the facilities I worked at was chronically understaffed by design so that the director would get a bonus at Christmas, I know this for a fact because I was friends with the previous director who clued me in on what the new guy was doing.

Once the patient’s savings were used up they’d fall over to Medicare and normally receive less quality care, which says something…considering the original quality wasn’t that great.

This is the future Americans have to look forward to, either get rich where you can afford private at-home care, have family that can care for you, although with the way things are they probably won’t have the time or funds, or end up in one of these places where you’ll likely end up with bedsores. Or opt for the last option which is just work until you drop dead, that seems to be most people’s plan, but that relies on your health keeping up at least until that point, which with U.S. “healthcare”…isn’t that likely.
