The Real Threat Behind “Detachment 201”

Recently, several top tech executives from Meta, OpenAI, and Palantir. These are the companies building the surveillance infrastructure of the 21st century, have been sworn into the U.S. Army Reserve as lieutenant colonels.
None of these individuals enlisted, went through boot camp, dodged grenades, or ate powdered eggs. They were directly commissioned under a new initiative called Detachment 201, a nod to the “201 Created” HTTP status code.
The Pentagon, ever the fan of obscure branding, wants us to believe this is a bold, modern step forward. What I see is a dangerous precedent, and it says more about the future of war, and who it’s really for, than anyone wants to admit.
