Does a lie become true if told enough times?

In some of my past articles, I’ve discussed various contradictions and absurdities contained in the Bible. In response to those articles, I’ve received feedback from some readers who point out how the Bible is a piece of poetry or allegory. That the writings need to be deciphered to be understood.
I’m well aware that some Christians only look at the book in this regard, but a large portion of Christians in the U.S. in particular believe that the Bible is to be taken literally and that it is without any error.
Like with many things, they repeat this mantra until they believe it to be true, and they raise their spawn in the churches to be brainwashed, or programmed if you will, to believe the exact same.
I was one of those children raised to believe that any semblance of doubt in my mind about my religion, questioning any perceived or actual error in the holy book would be a damnable offense in the eyes of my God.
So has this belief of the inerrancy of the Bible been around since the beginning of the religion?
