The Holodomor Lie
How a Convicted Fraudster, a Media Tycoon, and Cold War Propaganda Manufactured a “Genocide”

History gets written by the victors. But evidently it sometimes gets written by con artists, newspaper moguls (oligarchs), and governments desperate to sell a political narrative to maintain a economic system.
The “Holodomor genocide” narrative gets pushed relentlessly through Western media today, and by right wingers, and is presented as unquestionable truth: Stalin intentionally starved millions of Ukrainians in a deliberate act of ethnic extermination. If you dare to question this narrative, even with facts backing you up, you’re accused of denying history itself. If you start to dig into where this narrative actually came from though things get interesting, and the incentive to push the narrative becomes clear.
One of the central “eyewitnesses” whose stories helped shape the Western understanding of the famine wasn’t some brave journalist exposing hidden atrocities. This guy was an escaped convict and serial fraudster named Robert Green, writing under the fake name “Thomas Walker.” Then you have the guy who amplified this fabricated story across America, William Randolph Hearst, one of the most powerful media barons in U.S. history, a man who openly admired fascism and called Hitler the “savior of Europe.”
That part gets left out of the textbooks.
