Donald Trump has spent his entire adult life trying to sell himself as the ultimate businessman, the billionaire genius, the master negotiator, the guy who turned a “small loan” of a million dollars into a global empire through pure brilliance and grit. It’s a hell of a story, it’s also one of the most successful branding exercises in modern American history.

Behind those bombastic promises lies a much more consistent pattern, a laundry list of overhyped launches, mediocre-to-poor execution, quick collapses, lawsuits, and a heavy reliance on licensing his name rather than building anything of substance.

Trump didn’t conquer any markets by actually delivering a superior product, he monetized the perception of success, much like any of the modern IG “self made success” influencers do today, but this has been Trump’s schtick forever.
