Every few years, the Democratic Party dusts off its dog-and-pony show and trots out a new “hope candidate” to keep progressives tethered to their abusive relationship with the DNC.

For a while, it was Bernie Sanders, before that, Obama.

Bernie actually had quite a movement behind him. Millions of us poured time, money, and energy into his campaigns, only to watch the DNC kneecap him in broad daylight, twice.

In 2016, they told us Hillary was the “only viable choice.” Then in 2020, they did the bait-and-switch, clearing the field to make sure a less-than-lucid Biden was the “safe” alternative.

Now, with three more years of Trump staring us in the face, the machine is already spinning up its next distraction: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for 2028.

Young, Latina, female, the party bosses are salivating at the identity politics angle.

They can market her as proof that the Democrats are “listening” and “evolving,” all while doing the same corporate bootlicking and warmongering they’ve always done.
