Yet We Paint China as the One That Is Dystopian

We’re spoon-fed since kindergarten that “democracy” is sacred. That voting makes you free. That you have a voice. Meanwhile, China gets cast as the cartoon villain, dystopian, bureaucratic, and authoritarian.
It’s fun to pretend that we’re the shining example up on the hill, but if you look past the propaganda varnish and look at how things function, you’ll see the disturbing truth: China’s merit-based system might be less corrupt than America’s reality-TV democracy.
Corruption in the U.S. doesn’t skulk in the shadows; it gets airtime on CNN and a million-dollar ad buy. The system doesn’t break when money takes control. That is the system. It’s not democracy. It’s corporatocracy.
