One of the most deranged and under-discussed chapters of U.S. history is Project MKULTRA. If you thought conspiracy theorists were just tinfoil hat-wearing weirdos, guess again. This one’s real. The CIA actually spent years drugging Americans, torturing them, psychologically dismantling them, all in the name of “national security.” Or more accurately, in the name of figuring out if they could break and reprogram a human mind.

In the end they mostly failed, but not before destroying a lot of lives and proving, once again, that there’s no bottom to how low the U.S. government will go when it thinks no one is watching.
