Kamala Harris Taps Tim Walz As VP
An actual progressive pick???
Tim Walz is a surprising pick for Kamala to make…he seems too progressive to be honest.
Labor: During his tenure as governor of Minnesota, he outlawed non-compete clauses, increased minimum wage, banned employers from being able to penalize employees for skipping politically focused meetings, and expanded paid medical and family leave. He also has shown strong support for Union Rights participating in picket lines and advocating for workers’ rights to organize and collective bargaining. he’s passed policies that helped with workers’ safety on the job and safe work quotas.
LGBT: Walz has been vocally in support of same-sex marriages since he was a congressman, and has signed legislation that made Minnesota a sanctuary state for trans individuals seeking treatment. He has also enacted laws banning “conversion therapy” often pushed by religious extremist on their gay children. His administration also passed legislation preventing libraries from banning books solely based on LBGT themes.
Healthcare: He codified abortion rights in 2023, marking Minnesota as the first state to do so after Roe V. Wade was overturned.
“Abortion is health care, I think Old white men need to learn how to talk about this a little more. And I think the biggest thing is, listen to women, listen to what they’re saying.”
Education: He implemented free college tuition for low-income students, and free meals for school children regardless of income, as well as passing generous child tax credits.
Climate: He set the state’s goal as 100% renewable energy by 2040, as well securing a $200 million dollar grant from the EPA to reduce emissions generated from farming, supermarkets and organic waste processing facilities.
