Job -The Worst Lesson In The Bible?

I can’t tell you how many times this particular parable has come up in discussion between me and Christians I know.
Every single time they defend this story, and it’s always the same predictable line you hear from pastors on Sunday mornings. This just shows me once again that Christians only parrot what they’ve heard without actually processing the realities of the story they’ve read.
I will link the story here, but many of you may already know the gist of it. Job was a very wealthy man, with thousands of head of cattle, as well as most importantly three daughters and four sons.
Satan goes before God (somehow), surprisingly God isn’t immediately pissed off seeing his old adversary, the dark to his light, the evil to his good…nah he just says, “What’s up man, you wanna mess with my most righteous follower Job?”
Yes, that is correct God is the one who brings up Job as his most devout and righteous to Satan, and the possible target of a game they’ll play. The second that Satan hears this he’s like yeah man, lift your protection from him so I can take everything he has and I bet I can make him turn on you.
