There’s No Justice In Sight

On July 28, 2025, just five days ago as of this writing, a Palestinian teacher and activist named Awdah Hathaleen, featured in the Oscar-winning Documentary “No Other Land”, was shot dead by an Israeli settler in broad daylight while filming a violent incursion into his village.
The killer, a man named Yinon Levi, already well-known to Palestinian residents for orchestrating repeated acts of settler aggression, drove into the village of Umm al-Kheir with a massive excavator, destroyed infrastructure, and then pulled out a gun. Awdah was standing with his phone, documenting the assault, just like he had done many times before.
This time, the camera stopped rolling when Levi shot him. And in a macabre twist that has become all too familiar in the occupied West Bank, the Israeli authorities not only allowed the killer to walk free to house arrest but then refused to release Awdah’s body to his grieving family, citing “security concerns.”
