I was around the age of twelve when I learned that Muslims believe in Jesus, and in fact, hold him in high regard in their religion.

I was raised Evangelical and had been told that all other religions were misled, and possibly devil worshippers, knowingly or unknowingly, so this came as a surprise to me.

We had neighbors that had moved into the apartment next to us from Pakistan. This was in the 90s so the country wasn’t quite as hostile towards Muslims at that time, although we still were in the deep south, so I’m sure they had issues.

Me and my sister became friends with their daughter and she told us about how Islam honors many of the same prophets and stories that Christians do. I didn’t dig into the topic that much then, but did have questions for my parents, who seemed just as surprised as I was since they were not really open to studying “incorrect” religions.

I’ve talked with plenty of people who say that Isa is obviously Jesus, but then I’ve run into many Christians who are staunchly against this concept, claiming he was a different character altogether. In fact, I haven’t met a Christian who agrees that Jesus and Isa are the same person.

I’ve seen some of the various talking points from both sides of this debate but thought it’d be worth it to dig in deeper on the topic and really break all of the evidence down for myself and my readers to see if we can get some clarity.
