Nothing says “defending yourself” like launching drones at unarmed activists trying to deliver baby formula to a bombed-out concentration camp. That’s the current state of things as the latest Freedom Flotilla, a civilian-led humanitarian mission, sails toward Gaza with food, medicine, and a very inconvenient message for Israel: people in Gaza are starving, and the world is watching.
The vessel Madleen, carrying international activists, including Swedish climate lightning rod Greta Thunberg and Irish actor Liam Cunningham, is the latest target of Israel’s pathological need to enforce a siege on an already decimated population. Their crime? Attempting to bring in humanitarian aid to a place where children are dying of hunger.
