Donald Trump Still Isn’t a Christian

Donald Trump has finally said something honest, and funny enough, it’s about not going to heaven.
Trump’s answer honestly shocked me with his honesty; I had thought he was incapable of it in any scenario. Recently, I was watching a clip of a Trump interview on Air Force One where a reporter reminded him of a comment he made back in 2023, when he said that if he could end the war in Ukraine, “it would help me get into heaven.” The interviewer continued and added Gaza to the mix and asked if helping with a ceasefire there might also improve his celestial prospects.
Trump answered that he didn’t really think he’s “heaven-bound.”
Some will likely take his response as humility, the rarest of Trumpian qualities, right up there with silence and self-awareness. But if you know anything about American Evangelical theology (and Trump clearly doesn’t), the answer reveals a lot more. Anyone who’s been within shouting distance of a Sunday School class knows that, according to Evangelicals, you don’t earn your way into heaven. You don’t get there by “helping with ceasefires” or bringing about peace.
