What Is Beijing Telling Its Citizens?

You’ve probably heard about the kind of wild propaganda the Chinese government feeds its people about the United States. They paint this picture of America as some kind of broken, dystopian mess rather than the land of opportunity we all know it is.

First off, they claim most Americans don’t even own their homes.

Imagine that.

According to their story, people spend decades tossing rent money into a black hole, never actually building wealth, just praying the landlord doesn’t hike prices again. Apparently, in this fantasy version of America, entire generations are locked out of homeownership.

Pretty creative stuff.

Then there’s the healthcare angle.

Supposedly, citizens of the richest country on Earth can’t afford to see a doctor or a dentist. They whisper to their citizens that one unlucky diagnosis, one accident, could bankrupt a family.

As if people in America would be choosing between chemotherapy and keeping the lights on.

They go even further, claiming Americans can’t even afford dental care, like some Dickensian tale where teeth rot out by middle age. They insist there are people walking around with cavities untreated for years because fixing them would cost a month’s wages.

Right, because in the “free world,” people are really too poor to chew.

And don’t get them started on infrastructure.

The propaganda machine tells its citizens that America’s highways are crumbling, bridges are collapsing, water systems are toxic, and public transportation barely exists outside a few big cities.

Oh, and the gun stories, they love that one.

They tell people that in America, citizens carry assault rifles to the grocery store, that school shootings are so regular they barely make the headlines anymore, and that more Americans die from fellow citizens’ bullets each year than from foreign wars.

It’s practically a horror movie script.

Higher education?

That’s another of their fabrications. They claim that in the U.S., going to college means selling your future into debt slavery, that you can work hard, graduate, and still be paying off loans into your 40s or 50s, or even later.

Can you imagine a system where studying hard for a degree shackles you financially for life?

Only in the fever dreams of Chinese propagandists, right?

And of course, no propaganda package would be complete without the police stories.

Beijing tells its people that American police kill citizens at rates higher than most countries’ armies. They spin tales of traffic stops that end in funerals, of neighborhoods where calling 911 feels like summoning an execution squad. They even talk about entire communities living in fear of the very people sworn to “protect and serve.”

Unreal, right?

Then they stir the pot with race.

According to their propaganda machine, America is constantly on the brink of racial unrest, cities exploding in protests, tear gas clouds drifting through downtowns, armed soldiers in the streets. They want their citizens to believe the country never solved its centuries-old divisions, that the “melting pot” is more like a pressure cooker always on the verge of blowing.

Sounds like a bit much, doesn’t it?

The drug stories are another favorite.

Supposedly, America is drowning in overdoses, with entire towns hollowed out by opioids and meth. They claim that every day, thousands collapse from fentanyl poisoning, that morgues are overflowing, that addiction is so widespread it feels like an unofficial national pastime.

As if the richest nation on Earth could possibly leave its citizens to die on the sidewalk.

Perhaps their most outrageous claim of all is that the U.S. isn’t even run by its elected officials, but by corporations.

They say billionaires and CEOs buy politicians like trading cards, that laws are written in boardrooms, and that campaign “donations” are nothing more than legalized bribery.

In their telling, America isn’t a democracy at all, but a corporate playground where citizens are commodities, not participants.

Total nonsense, obviously.

They package all this up to convince their people that the American Dream is a myth

They want their citizens to believe America isn’t a shining city on a hill at all, but a country eating itself alive.
